SPECIALTY: CIVIL ENGINEERING
DURATION OF STUDIES: Four (4) Years
Other Programs
Program Overview
This four years Bachelors of Engineering program shall train Civil engineers that will be engage in the design and construction of facilities that we use every day such as: buildings, roadways, railroads, water supply pipe networks, drinking water treatment plants, solid waste landfills, wastewater treatment plants, bridges, tunnels, subways, canals and waterways, dams and reservoirs.
Courses that address the behavior and design of steel and reinforced concrete structures, environmental pollution, control systems, water resources systems, foundations, and surface transportation systems are integrated into this B.Eng. curriculum, culminating in a series of senior-level professional design courses. These simulate the design processes used in the major areas of civil engineering and prepare students for entry-level positions. BHIST graduates will have successful records in professional practice, research in academic institutions, government and private laboratories, and in managing firms and corporations of all sizes.
Program Objectives
The Program Educational Objectives for Civil Engineering are to prepare our students to:
- Achieve excellence in engineering decision-making and design,
- Attain leadership careers in engineering practice,
- Complete graduate professional engineering education,
- Pursue advanced study and research in engineering, and
- Engage in diverse, alternative career choices.
Employment Opportunities:
Graduate from this program can gain employment or establish a business in the construction industry as;
- Structural Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer, Hydraulic and water Infrastructure Engineer, Environmental Engineer, Land survey and urban planning Engineer, Construction management Engineer
